Hashing Customer List Audiences

Ads Manager hashes your customer list locally on your browser before sending to Snap. There, it's matched against our users' hashed IDs and the matches are added to your Customer List Audience.

Please Note: We will not share this data with third parties or other advertisers without your consent. 

Pre-Hashed Lists

If your list is pre-hashed before uploading, you will receive a message asking you if the data is hashed emails, hashed mobile advertising IDs, or hashed phone numbers. 

Pre-hashed customer lists must be hashed using these rules:

• Normalize email addresses by trimming leading and trailing whitespace and converting all characters to lowercase before hashing.

• Normalize mobile advertiser ID by using all lowercase. Do not remove hyphens.

• Normalize phone numbers by including country codes, and exclude any non-numeric characters such as whitespace, parentheses, '+', or '-'

• Hashed using SHA256.
